This is an amazingly interesting non-fiction book, well written, with lots of history. The descriptions are very real, the rain forests and the lost city history was well narrated and researched. I think one of the most interesting parts happens at the end of the book after the discovery and return to civilization. Leishmaniasis is an "old world" disease that crops up in the modern day and little was known about the treatments. It is interesting to follow the research, cause, treatment and the modern day projections. Douglas Preston did a good job of writing the book and educating the reader. If you are into lots of detail, you would enjoy this read.
