A seemingly good plot, made less interesting by the author's frequent summation of what happened, his frequent referral to Amos's unfortunate past experiences, his use of inappropriate slang and banal dialogue, and his many explorations of possible reasons for what happened. It's like reading the author's stream of consciousness trying to figure out, as he writes, how to solve the mystery he has created, explain the relationships between characters, and provide explanations for their actions. Each chapter ends with the prospect of new information coming into light so you want to keep reading despite his irritating writing style. The action finally comes towards the end when the author has figured out how to end the story.
