I didn't find this quite as clever as the Captain Underpants books, though the target audience will likely find it even more accessible and hilarious--the comic book is meant to be written and illustrated by two fourth graders, after all, at which it succeeds marvelously. My favorite part was the plot of chapter 3, in which the evil Petey's plan to get everything he wants is to make the world "supa dumb" by erasing all the words in all the books. It works too well, and he ends up in a depressed funk from being surrounded by supa dumbness (which allows Dog Man to discover Petey's secret stash of books and regain his intelligence and, as a result, foil Petey's plan).
