Not since Harry Potter have I been so heavily invested in a series of books- in the world and the characters created by an author. SJM is my new author queen. She deftly weaves romance with world-building and character development in an absolutely captivating fashion. I wouldn't say that this novel has put me in a slump, but I am upset that I have to wait almost a year to get the next book. The only way I can possibly survive is to start reading Throne of Glass. I can only hope the next ACOTAR novel will follow Lucien- that seems to be a story that is begging to be told. I really would also like to see Tamlin happy. Yes, he's an ass, but I really believe he's on the right path to redemption. I need closure there. People complain that the last battle is too short, and that no one major dies. The battle was perfectly described, and many people were gravely injured. That's really all my heart can take, thank you, SJM. I loved how everyone came together- even the Weaver, the Carver and Bryaxis, not to mention the forces from the sea (didn't see that one part coming). I loved meeting the other High Lords- Maas made each fae and their lands different and intriguing. Kallias and his mate Viviane were by far my favorites (and the vests on the foxes!!). There were enough scenes of intimacy to be believable without being overwhelming. Yes, the ending was left open between several characters and their relationships, but that's because there is another trilogy coming out from other perspectives. Feyre's story is over- it's time for someone else to take the reins. All in all, a satisfying conclusion to an amazing trilogy- one I will absolutely re-read. How will I ever make it to May??
