Director Richard Attenborough passed away yesterday. One of his best films is "A Bridge Too Far". This is the true story of an "Allied airdrop behind German line in Holland, and the Subsequent disastrous Battle of Amhem." Now the film has been called flawless and a masterpiece by many a film critic. Here on the KCLS web site two reviews gave it high reviews of 4 1/2 stars and 5 stars. The movie is from 1977 and I have not watched it in many years. I do remember being thoroughly impressed with both the script and the acting. The movie has an all star cast including Sean Connery, Gene Hackman, Dirk Bogarde, Michael Caine, Anthony Hopkins, James Caan, a young Colin Farrell. Maximilian Schell, Hardy Kruger and Liv Ullman. The battle scenes are as realistic as any film war scenes ever done. This is a Richard Attenborough masterpiece. KCLS has 7 copies and only 3 are checked out. I wouldn't hesitate to reserve your copy today! We can safely say that the man you did "Young Winston", "Gandhi" and "Cry for Freedom" knew how to make an epic movie. 9/2/14 Thanks to 15 or so KCLS patrons who have now put a hold on "A Bridge Too Far". I just finished again for the second time and found it even more entertaining than the first time. Again, if you would write your reaction to the movie, I would very much appreciate it.
