Enjoyment of this adaptation is limited strictly to the 'look' -- the vintage cars and locomotives, the uniforms and evening dress, the foggy cobbled streets (which appear to have been polished for the occasion), and so on. There are some cameo performances by BBC veterans, but nothing can make up for the hopeless and embarrassing screenplay that obliges the actors to recite Harlequin-esque phrases by the carload. David Tennant is unconvincing, the musical score is bland, and the German villains are straight from central casting. Beware of this turkey!
