This is the first book in the exciting magical world of 12-year-old Elf Sophie Foster. Facing family struggles and life-threatening dangers, this book is action-packed and full of surprises and thrilling adventures, you will surely never want to put this book down. My favorite part of this book is in the beginning when Sophie figures out why she has a telepathic ability and learns about the other world. My favorite character in this book has to be Sophie, as she discovers more about herself and her powers. I would 100% recommend this series to anyone who enjoys magical creatures and special powers, fighting villains, and surviving close calls. 4.5 / 5 stars @Spencer_Pan of the Teen Review Board at the Hamilton Public Library The Keeper of the Lost Cities, written by Shannon Messenger is the ultimate read for anyone who adores the Harry Potter and Percy Jackson series. This novel is the first book in the ongoing series, which at the moment has five books total, with a few more to come. While reading this novel, I found the reader had found and created a world filled with mystery, questions, meaning and as well as humour, this perfect balance of topics will leave you smiling or crying after each chapter. Although this novel is intended for middle school aged children, I do believe that this series, much like Harry Potter, can be read by anyone who enjoys fantasy and fiction. Overall, this novel is a 6 out of 5 in my opinion, as Messenger created such an intriguing story and plot that settles the crave of our childhood dreams. - @Because_Logic of the Teen Review Board of the Hamilton Public Library
