While I am not usually a fan of Shakespeare, Hamlet managed to not only hold my attention but also intrigue me. I enjoyed the journey I took with Hamlet through his ups and downs of emotional turmoil. Hamlet has a suspenseful tone as one awaits to see the fate of all the characters in this tragedy; however, it also has some comic relief which proves to be not only thought provoking but also provide a chuckle (which, lets face it, can't be said for Shakespeare's every attempt at humor). As well, if you are not one to take everything at face value, the questions that are posed and the allegory used in the novel allow, for those of us who enjoy them, a satisfactory amount of "Ah ha!" moments. All in all Hamlet was a pretty good read despite the fact that I was forced to read it for school.
