My mother loved it, and I loved it, though for slightly different reasons. Though few folk recommend discussing politics at a family gathering, this film may help break the ice on a topic worthy of consideration. The film celebrates silliness and human kindness, while also taking a, though white and privileged, relatively realistic look at how criminality comes from the few options available to those who are utterly desperate. This adorable British comedy bridges gaps between generations, classes, and nations, providing an opportunity for teens, adults, and elders to laugh together.
