An Inspector Banks Mystery

Very well done as the author switches two story lines from two different time periods. This is a complex police procedural where Banks (along with his sort of new girlfriend, a local D.I. Annie Banks) solve a violent murder 50 years past, trying to identify the victim "in a place that no longer exists, whose former residents are scattered to the winds...". To solve this many layered mystery, the story takes Banks back and forth from the past (rural English life in W.W. II) to the present (the small hamlet of Yorkshire). It is a many layered mystery with a very interesting plot. Recommended.
