I quit 30 minutes in. It's been about 10 years since I quite watching a movie because it was horrible.

Based on the beloved children classic by Louisa May Allcott, Little Women features the four March sisters: Meg, Amy, Beth and Jo as they face the hardships of living in the midst of a Civil War. Before watching this movie, I initially thought that I would highly dislike it since, from my experience, most movies based on books often cut out most of the significant scenes, but this was not the case for this movie! The director, Greta Gerwig, included all the scenes that I loved while reading the book, and she included their own modern spin on the original story as well, which I thoroughly enjoyed. In addition, although the March sisters all had their own different and unique personalities, I could not help but feel that I could relate to all four of them, but, if I were to note one problem, it would be that the scenes were not in the order that was played out in the book. As a result, if you have not read the book prior to watching the movie, you may be confused at some parts. 4.5/5 stars

I enjoyed this movie a lot. It was based on the novelist Louisa May Alcott’s true story. This coming-of-age movie demonstrates the struggles of four sisters throughout the American Civil War. This movie was so inspiring and creates such respect for those who had to live through those scary times. The whole cast and acting were outstanding and really added to this incredibly amazing story. I love all the different personalities of the sisters and how they got along. I’m looking forward to reading the classic novel as well. I would definitely recommend to everyone! I rate Little Women 5/5.

I enjoyed the characters and some of the heartfelt moments during the movie, but I found the plot hard to follow, especially with the random jumping back and forth in time.

Greta Gerwig's okay but not great version of the timeless story. Listening to some of the dialogue, and looking at the costumes and most of the sets, it's doubtful the production did much research about the time, and what the characters would have been like. It reminds me of a community theatre production. Actors like Saoirse Ronan, Timothée Chalamet, and especially Florence Pugh do fine jobs. But there are better overall films, e.g. Gillian Anderson's 1994 Little Women.

The screenplay is a confusing mess, flipping back and forth in time, amid a din of inane dialogue. Gerwig manages to tease lack-lustre performances from the star-studded cast. Both Gillian Armstrong's 2000 film and the 2018 BBC production are much superior to this effort.

Greta Gerwig's version was my introduction to the story (amazing) so watching this movie as a novice made it totally enjoyable.

It seems most like either the book or the movie. I really enjoyed all 3 books. I don't know why I feel frustrated halfway through... but maybe that's a good thing...
Do watch extras.

Historical nitpicking, maybe, but in those times, Concord, MA, did NOT have huge mansions like the one the Laurences live in in this film. While there were certainly some large, well-built houses there, a good number of which still stand today, there was nothing on the scale of the Laurence mansion. And while it IS fiction, they do use the exteriors of the very real "Orchard House", but make up the giant mansion directly across the road.
