Robert DeNiro plays a straight, vibrant young man seriously struck down by a stroke. Philip Seymour Hoffman plays a vulgar, flamboyant emotional cross dressing singer with the desire for a transsexual operation. The two characters plays a hot/cold/hot/cold relationship jumping between some kind of understanding and mutual discord.
Clichéd stereotypes, clichéd bitchiness, clichéd homily on "tolerance" and a big bad gangster to tie it all together. Perhaps it redeemed itself in the final reel but I gave up after the first hour.
Flawless with the truly amazing best
actor of all time, Philip Seymour Hoffman, is my "favorite" film in the
world. Both the film and PSH are
incredible....I can't tell you how devastated I am over PSH's passing.
What a talent he is/was. RIP
