I enjoyed the heck out of this book. It was cute and heartwarming and I just loved how all of the characters were given interesting complexities.

I read this for the "A One Word Title" part of my 2019 reading challenge. It was alright, but didn't grab me as much as the first book and Callie never grew on me.

I am going to give this a 3.75. I really enjoyed it and I felt like there were some extremely relatable moments from this book as well as the first one. Her mother saying to "wait for her skinny body" is something I definitely went through several times in my life. I listened to the audiobook version and it was really hard to keep up with who was who. I don't think the main characters were developed enough in the first book or at the beginning of this book to make the connection of who they were. The only other thing that kept this from getting a higher rating was the lack of plot. I didn't feel like there was anything to really keep you wanting more. I remember about 3/4 through the book thinking, what is the climax of this story? I still really enjoyed it and would recommend it but it seemed more like a diary than a book.

Julie Murphy's charming sequel to 'Dumplin' follows two secondary characters (Millie and Callie) forced to work together and learning to not only accept themselves, but persuade the universe to do so as well. The body positive message is timeless, relevant, and always refreshing.

So much love for this body positive, girl power read. I love how Julie Murphy lets characters who are so often defined by their adjectives (fat, etc.) choose how to define themselves. Isn't that what we should all be doing? Great LGBTQIA and Latinx representation as well! This is a companion to Dumplin', which will soon be a movie...but you don't need to have read Dumplin' to enjoy Puddin', but you should still totally read both of them!

There's definitely not enough books written about good female friendships, which makes this such a delight to read. Callie and Mille are enemies to start with but once htey get to know ech other, it helps them both grow. There are, of course, other bumps in the road, but it was a nice companion to Dumplin' . Very well done.

Puddin' is the sequel to Dumplin'. The main character recently won a Blue Bonnet pageant and wants to maintain a close friendship with girls she became friends with at the pageant. The writing itself is well done, but there is no conflict or tension in the plot. And it is goody-goody to point of nausea. I am guessing this was written for a very young audience. The author doesn't spell out bad-ass; she uses asterisks for the 2 "s"-s. Plenty of teen books are riveting reads for adults, but this ain't one of them.

Thoroughly enjoyed this one! Murphy knows how to pull you in and make you care for all her characters... even the ones you initially dislike!

Puddin' is an excellent book, and it has a deeper meaning than is initially perceived. The message "don't judge a book by its cover", is spread throughout the novel, especially focusing on the two main characters. They both seem to be judged based on their outer qualities, Millie for being fat, and Callie for being cold. Although this book is the second in a series, I don't feel that it's necessary to read the first book as the stories are very individual. I strongly recommend this book.

Even though I did not read the first book in this series, I really enjoyed this one. I can definitely say it is not necessary to read the first book in order to enjoy the second. I loved the characters, and I feel like they were written very well. In addition, the plot made sense and was not super unrealistic like some other books I've read. This is a great story, not just about love, but about friendship.
