There are some funny one-liners, but in this case I was let down by the excessive hype. The main characters were childish (the mirror game, really?) and the plot was so contrived you could hear the air whistling through the holes (Danny was one big plot device and I swear her boss wouldn't have passed the Bechdel test.) The heroine reminded me too much of Judy Hopps (she's tiny, was raised on a strawberry farm, is a positive go-getter, etc.), making it impossible not to think of it all as one big Zootopia fanfic (oddly enough not really what I'm looking for in a romance novel.) And on top of that the hero wasn't nearly as charming as Nick Wilde. All in all, one big floppy mess.

I do not recommend this book. The characters are predictable and boring, and the story is basically non-existent. The male, based on the over the top descriptions, appears to made only of muscle. I'm not sure how he goes about his daily life without his muscles getting in the way of everything. The female is "quirky" and "cute" and "adorable" in an overplayed, ridiculous, unbelievable way. At one point she wanders around his apartment stroking a matchbox car digging through all his stuff and he seems to be totally fine with this. I was looking for some fun, lighthearted, easy romance reading, and what I got was not worth my time. My eyes rolled so many times while reading this book I'm surprised they didn't get stuck.

One of the best romantic comedies I have ever read. This had a great story and it was a fun absorbing book. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend this to anyone.

One of the best hate-to-love tropes I've read. Definitely worth all the hype. Loved this and will probably be one of my favorite books of 2017.

Lucy and Joshua hate each other to the very depths of their souls, forever and ever. When they are both up for the same promotion at their publishing company, tension ramps up to an unbearable degree. Neither is willing to back down, and yet when a tense moment in an elevator bubbles over (cue eye roll), Lucy is left wondering if she ever hated Joshua at all, or if this is just another game to derail her from earning the big promotion. The sexual tension will have you gripping pages, and the downright cuteness of it all will make you want to binge watch all your Rom Com faves. Thorne’s use of metaphor and general wordsmithing will leave you in a rosy, rosy haze. It’s an old and sometimes overused romance trope, but The Hating Game may have you re-evaluating your hatred of the love-hate dichotomy.

Reads like Golden age romantic film that produced/directed by Judd Apatow.

Ok this book is an interesting one, once you start reading it you won't stop atleast I could not resist to leave it midway. The protagonist, working in a publishing house, hates Joshua Templeman to extremity without realizing that this guy actually loved her and she always misunderstood him. But its an amazing read going through their fights, games, blossoming romance and some confusions as well...

The only reason this book didn't get a higher rating from me it because it was a little too slow in the beginning. I liked the romance and so much of the book was the hating, it wasn't as fun for me as it would have been otherwise. It really didn't pick up for me until the paintball game. Still this is a fun romance and an interesting read.
