Add a CommentIt was a really great way to end the series by getting the old gang back together again and resolving a few things.
The first one is the only good one in this franchise. There, I said it.
Decent job for this fifth film of the series. Follows the adventures of an extremely lucky pirate, Captain Jack Sparrow and his faithful crew on yet another romp on the high seas.
As much as some of the antics, go beyond belief, it has amazing special effects and imagination.
Bonus feature on the DVD, has a 6 minute behind-the-scenes with crew member, Gibbs (played by Kevin McNally, one of few that have been in all five films).
Will there be a sixth? It was five years between films of No. 4 and No.5.
First Pirates movie I had seen. Saw it in theaters. I thought it was funny, fast, and exciting. I have a hard time hating movies. This one was great. Javier Bardem's character is funny to me. Love the effects.
Yeah, nope. I mean I love the Pirates of the Caribbean, but this one wasn't... good enough. I guess it probably didn't help that I watch the movies, 1,4,3,2, then, five, because by the time five came around I was all mixed up, but I still found it rather boring, story wasn't good, and most of the time the things happening were just to silly for me, like with the bank? (You'll have to watch it to understand what I'm saying about the bank in the beginning) Sorry Jack sparrow but, This one, sucked. I wouldn't recommend it.
This movie isn't about soulless abominations, it is a soulless abomination. It's like a some random Disney VP said, "Let's make another Pirates movie. What did we do in the other ones? Do things like that. I don't care about the story or the acting, just make it do the things." And so they did that.
Time to lose Johnny Depp!
Same elements from the other Pirate films only poorly done and I couldn't care less about any of the new characters. The villain is laughable with the way he speaks (not the spanish accent, but the stilted way he talks), and also he's a pirate hunter. He kills pirates, which is a good thing, right? The morality has always been questionable, but the villain of this film seems to target pirates... Shouldn't he be the good guy? And I'm still not clear how the villain was cursed. He was mad and.. became a ghost? At least it's not 2 and half hours long... But it felt that long. And how many times do characters get captured and then escape? I honestly lost track, because it happens every 15 minutes.
The only reason to watch this is Bardem’s role. The rest is trash. Johnny Depp’s tiresome performance as Keith Richard’s double with the drunken swagger and heavy eye makeup 💄 has lost all its charm.
Absolutely horrible. The story made no sense at all. I would recommend everyone steer clear of this dreadful movie (but certainty watch the first 4 Pirates of the Caribbean - they were great!).
