It was 50 years ago when The Beatles' John Lennon, Paul McCartney, George Harrison, and Ringo Starr astonished and delighted the world, ushering in the Summer of Love with Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band, a groundbreaking masterwork that became popular music's most universally acclaimed album. The album is newly mixed by Giles Martin and engineer Sam Okell in stereo, sourced directly from the four-track masters at Abbey Road Studios in London, and guided by the original, Beatles-preferred mono mix produced by his father, George Martin. This expanded 2 CD package features the new stereo album mix on the first CD and adds a second CD of 18 tracks, including previously unreleased alternate takes of each of the album's 13 songs, newly mixed in stereo and sequenced in the same order as the album. The second CD also includes a new stereo mix and a previously unreleased instrumental take of 'Penny Lane,' and the 2015 stereo mix and two previously unreleased alternate takes of 'Strawberry Fields Forever.'

This Beatles album from 1967 contains 13 tracks. Two of my favourites are - Getting Better, and Lovely Rita.

(Commenting on the 2017 remix/ remaster) - This classic album sounds great but I'm disappointed that the NWPL only purchased the single disc version instead of the two disc version.

50 years ago this week - Beatles released Sgt. Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band on June 2, 1967.

A Day In The Life, over 5 and a half minutes long, is often cited as the best Beatles hit ever, and certainly in everyone's top ten list. And then, how often have we sang When I'm Sixty-Four to those elders who actually turned 64 or hummed Lovely Rita to those lovely Ritas we came across? ... And talk about INSANE lyrics as "Lucy In The Sky With Diamonds:"
Picture yourself in a boat on a river/
With tangerine trees and marmalade skies/
Somebody calls you, you answer quite slowly/
A girl with kaleidoscope eyes/
Cellophane flowers of yellow and green/
Towering over your head/
Look for the girl with the sun in her eyes/
And she's gone/ ...

Noted that someone had posted the Lucy videos already. So, added the "A Day In The Life."

Very good CD. A few of the songs on this CD, I haven't heard in a long time, the others I'm not that familiar with. I enjoyed this CD. Cool album.

It was 50 years ago today.

On June 1st, 1967 The Beatles released Sgt Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band. An album that is regarded as one of the greatest albums of all time.

What's to say - this is the Beatles! This is one of my favorite albums of theirs because of the artwork on the album, but also because of the way the songs flow into one another, like a story. Plus they created some quirky sounds that, at the time the album was made, were pretty unique. Definitely an album of the times.

Great CD, with songs you can sing to and will be whisteling all day! I highly recommend this for anyone! My favorite songs are Lucy in the Sky With Diamonds and When I'm 64. Fine for all ages. This is one of those albums that has stood the test of time.

This album has quite a reputation, though I should think it mainly among those who were children when it was released. The order of the songs is a bit odd: pothead mysticism ('Within you, without you') followed by cutesy teenie-bopper love song ('When I'm sixty-four). Perhaps it was great in its day, but it hasn't aged well.

Ranked #1 in Rolling Stone's Top 500. Ranked below the Beatles "Revolver in several other publications (mainly British), but generally considered a landmark in studio recordings.
