WOW!! What a powerful film. I guess it should not come as a surprise that no matter how many books one reads or films one sees there are still thousands of untold / unknown stories from WWII. This movie tests your idea of what is fair and what is humane. Should German soldiers be made to remove thousands of land mines put on Denmark's coast by the Nazi forces? Why should Allied or civilian lives be put in jeopardy? But did these boys who were brainwashed into the Nazi military or enlisted out of the bravado of youth be responsible for acts committed by older soldiers? Do we weep more at the loss of an animal than we do for a young Wehrmacht soldier? Can a soldier who has seen all the depravity of war still grow to love young enemy soldiers who are also victims of that same war??? I will think about this film for long time. Highly recommend!!! LAND OF MINE is a terrific and sad German foreign film set during the aftermath of World War 2. It takes place along the coast of Denmark, where surrendered and very young German soldiers are told to defuse and remove their own land mines along the beach. LAND OF MINE is a different and another telling of the horrors of war.

True life historical account of the young German soldiers forced to diffuse thousands of landmines from the Danish coast in the aftermath of WWII, creating a crisis of conscience for the otherwise hardened sergeant charged with supervising the monumental task. Provides insight into the horrors facing prisoners of war and this flick delivers with one explosive script.

Not for the faint of heart. I watched more than half but really couldn't take the tension, the violence and horror. I turned to wikipedia's movie description online to know how the movie ends and to understand the history behind the film. A very worthwhile story but a challenge to watch.

Disturbing! and disgusting the way human beings were treated in the war.

Post WWII, German war prisoners are forced by the Danish to risk their lives discovering and defusing land mines on the beaches planted by Germans because they thought the allied landing would be there. They were told that they would not be released until the mines were de-activated. I suspect that this rule was against the military code of conduct. An excellent film.

For films with WWII as the background this is one of the better ones. It is also a very moving film. My only -ve comment is the transformation of a cruel, heartless sergeant (as depicted in the film's opening scene) to a more humane character is a bit dramatic. Great acting by a cast of young, unknown German actors. Subtitles.
