Thoroughly enjoyed the entire series. We watched this before Downton Abbey came out and found Downton Abbey to be more detailed, but If there'd been no Downton Abby, we'd have marked this as one of our favorite series.

Currently hooked when I didn't expect to be. This series is like a blast from the past. Expect a lot of cheesiness and problems where there shouldn't be, but plenty of character growth and lessons learned. The Scottish Highlands is a character in itself and beware of wanting to travel there if you watch this.

Liked this series when viewing it's TV debut. Obviously, set in Scotland (similar story-line to Downton Abbey - big manor house and occupants needing to adapt to modern world).
Charming and grumpy old characters; some sweet, some snooty, some salt-of-the-earth and spicy housekeeper guiding the laird up the garden path!
Nicely acted, easy to watch, if you like PBC shows (Downton, Doc Martin, LTinHalifax), you'll find this series easy entertainment.

Rated 3+, not the best of the series but nice start.

This is a great show set in Scotland. From the BBC.

BBC Scottish style casual titled and their underlings in a high quality soap opera. Beautiful setting.

If you are looking for an excuse to punch in the face anyone involved in the making of this series, here it is. Its painful twee-ness is an unacknowledged cause of the Scottish independence movement.

Humourous and full of atmosphere. Richard Briers and Susan Hampshire steal their scenes. Only in later seasons when many of the original characters disappear am I disappointed.

I agree with nadian - not the best season, but a great series altogether. Funny, quirky and beautifully filmed in the highlands of scotland.

Not my favorite season of Monarch of the Glen, but still a great introduction to the whole cast of crazy characters.
