Tries hard to be profound but is basically just garbage.

I'm still deciding how I feel about this movie. I liked it and the actors all do a good job with their parts. I liked that it had so many women in it, and that the male characters were not threatened by women who know themselves well. Still, there's a "but . . ." and I'm still sorting out what that is. I loved Billy Crudup's role, and how he played it. If there were any men like that around back when I was busy getting involved with inappropriate ones, I sure overlooked them. I'll watch this film a second time and see if I can come to a clearer opinion.

Unusual take on a coming of age story. Great to see so many female characters with substance and fleshed out characterizations.

I liked it. I guess because I grew up during the same time period so I can relate to it. Quirky story and amusing. Sort of artsy, different story telling.

Dull film with a story that goes no where and a narrative that cheats the viewer out of drama that is sure to come but never does.

This movie has great performances especially by Annette Benning and Greta Gerwig.

I gave up after 20 mins. Sure glad I didn't pay to watch this at cinema. But sad I waited so long in queue to get it. Was it the charecters themselves or the actors that protrayed them that made watching unbearable?

I would never have believed a person who told me that Annette Benning made a bad movie, but she did. This is the first time I haven't loved her work. I can't say if there was a point to this movie because we turned it off and watched a rerun on TV. There was an unlikable teen boy whose single mother was freaking out because her was reaching adulthood and she didnlt know how to raise a son. Really?
