While filming a documentary about sex trafficking, Jared and Michelle Brock felt a deep need for prayer in their personal lives. In an effort to learn more about prayer, the couple traveled the globe, exploring the great Judeo-Christian prayer traditions: in mountains and monasteries, in Christian communities and cathedrals, standing up and lying down, every hour and around the clock. --Publisher's description.

Excellent book and written in everyday language that made it fun to read. Jared dares to be open and vulnerable - not holding much back. I enjoyed it so much I read it twice through. If you've ever given any thought to prayer - good or bad - try this book. I came away from it thinking differently about prayer and all the "baggage" I've attached to it....stuff like, "is this the right way to pray"; "What's the use?"; "what do you mean...I have to pray 'this' prayer in order to be part of 'that' tribe?" and so on. Jared's experiences and thoughts on the page helped me to realize prayer and praying is special and it's normal and should be whatever feels right to me. It is a conversation with the "Great Mystery" - whatever one defines that to be.
