I enjoyed the heck out of this movie. I've never really scene Jake Gyllenhaal in anything this dark before and it lead me to the inevitable conclusion that he's in the modern day master class of acting. The story is a slow burn of suspense that may be too slow moving for some, but I found it to be dangerously intriguing, something that kept me guessing and on the edge of my seat.

One of the worst movies I have ever seen. I can't believe I sat through it waiting for it to implode. If you're a diehard Jake Gyllenhaal fan, well, he does a masterful job playing a manipulative pathological looney you hate immediately. Perhaps the role was merely practice. Pass on this drivel.

Thought provoking film. Disturbing but engrossing. Jake Gyllenhaal's character may be a creepy sociopath, but as is suggested in the "bonus feature", in some ways he represents many of his age who are caught between their online lives and the world of precarious work.

An egocentric, morally-repugnant main character with absolutely no empathy for other people. And it gets worse from there. Agh, need brain bleach now.

Better than I expected; way better than most crap coming out of Hollywood. Surprised me more than usual, so I won't give anything away.

This is a great movie that touches the way on how news are selected and constructed to be shocking and sell air time that way.
Jake Gyllenhaal, is absolutely amazing, I do not recognize him, so creepy that at the end of the movie I felt I needed a showers. The character is so emotionally detached, speaking with "the best seller" phrases. Ugh!
Watch this movie, you will had an interesting time.

A fantastic, original premise and excellent lead performance are alone enough to make this film worth watching; unfortunately, a misguided resolution does not capitalize on the momentum and thrills of the story.

I don't think you'd ever want to watch this film more than once, but you really should watch it once. Louis Bloom is a lowlife who steals copper from buildings then turns around and sells it back to the contractors he steals it from. Then one night he comes across a car accident and video cameramen arrive before the cops do. They all stand around, right up next to the victims, videotaping everything without helping the victims who are lying there dying. Some of them even rearrange their clothing, showing a little breast to entice viewers. Disgusting, but that's what they do and they get paid well for it by the news stations, so Louis gets a videocamera and a police scanner and starts doing the same thing. Just as you think he can't sink into anything more depraved, he does. He starts causing crimes so he can videotape them. It just keeps getting worse and when the cops get onto him, he lies through his teeth. This is what a psychopath looks like. I don't think I'll ever look at Jake Gyllenhaal the same way again.

From IMDb:
Detective: You filmed him dying.
Lou: That's my job, that's what I do, I'd like to think if you're seeing me you're having the worst day of your life.
===
Lou: My motto is if you want to win the lottery you've got to make money to get a ticket.
===
Nina: Friends don't pressure friends to sleep with them.
Lou: Actually that's not true because as you know Nina, a friend is a gift you give yourself.
===
Rick: You gotta call the cops.
Lou Bloom: And we will. At the right time.
===
Lou: You see, Rick, they've done studies, and they found that in any system that relies on cooperation, from a school of fish or say even a professional hockey team for example, these experts have identified communication as the number one single key to success.
