The previous comment sums it up pretty well. I liked the friendship of the somewhat partner and the struggle of the main character. The ending, if you catch the subtleties of why, is quite appropriate.

Story with a 21st-century sensitivity twist: protagonist suffers from...dementia. What it is (and what it isn't) and how it affects the man in question, is a big part of this movie and one of two things that may make it interesting.

The other factor that elevates this otherwise ho-hum covert CIA drama higher than it would otherwise be, is the performance of Nicholas Cage as the agent with the medical condition. In lacklustre or even bad movies, he's often terrific, as he is here. Cage really IS this poor soul.

Both star and writer/director, Paul Schrader (Taxi Driver, Affliction, The Last Temptation of Christ, Raging Bull) have done much better work, but between them they still offer enough here for a night's entertainment.

i am a Cage fan with his cool acting speech delivery. This movie kept my interest for a 20 year quest to find the terrorist who cut his ear. No explosions. Thank you dash board reviews.

Simple not too complicated spy/espionage/terrorist movie. Like anemia embellishment that was interesting. Overall good movie if you like the genre.

Some what similar to "3 Days to Kill" that an over the hill agent was determined to hunt down a terrorist despite of his debilitating medical condition.

Watchable. But nothing special.

Another horror from Nick Cage.

A standard story, more or less, using the CIA as a backdrop. Cage does a decent job.

Cage brings it.

No CGI explosions.
Good script,..but better acting.

Lake yelling at the CIA director: I'm a liability? You fucked this up just like you freaked up everything else. Freaked up Iran-contra, freaked up Ames, freaked up 9/11, freaked up W.M.D., Afghanistan, Iraq, Benghazi. Not you yourself of course, no. No, you're just the latest in a long line of freak-ups who turned this agency into a cesspool of politics and special interests on behalf of the weapons makers and the surveillance industry, who get richer while we get weaker!

Lake spoke in front of new recruits: What the hell are you doing here? Haven't you heard? The CIA fell from the Berlin Wall and all the president's men can't put it back together again! It's broke! Not reliable. Not trustworthy. Can't stand up to the White House. Backstabbers. Watching porn, tapping phones. Best and brightest quit or retired. What in the name of Jesus Christ nailed to the cross are you doing here? Because you heard the call. The future spread out before you like a cruise-ship buffer. You were teaching in a classroom, working in a kitchen, training in a gym, and you heard the call. For some it was adventure. For some, mystique. For all, it was 9/11 and you heard the call, and it was the call of duty and love of country. Why? Because you have values!
