Rare (which is sometimes defined as strange or loony) bird from MN goes on world tour to find the last one of his kind. South, of course.

So practically everybody in Brazil speaks with an American accent, eh? (Other than the cockatoo from Australia.)

When Disney made a Brazilian parrot movie -- "The Three Caballeros" (1945) -- their character, José Carioca, actually sounded Brazilian. Disney's film also managed to be fresh and entertaining while simultaneously honouring the two Latin American countries that saw combat against the Axis powers: Brazil (in the Italian campaign) and Mexico (in the Philippines).

P.S. How come nobody on this page knows how to spell the word "favourite"?

Rio is a 2011 American 3D computer-animated musical adventure comedy film produced by Blue Sky Studios and directed by Carlos Saldanha. It tells the story of Blu, a domesticated male Spix's macaw who is taken to Rio de Janeiro to mate with a free-spirited female Spix's macaw, Jewel. The two eventually fall in love, and together they have to escape from being smuggled by Nigel, a cockatoo. I enjoyed watching this movie because it has a lovely animation and the storyline. I would recommend this movie to children 11 and up. This cartoon/musical/comedy/action movie manages to captivate audiences from around the world with its themes of song and dance, and beautiful imagery and colour usage. Rating: 4.5/5 @PrettyKitty of the Teen Review Board at the Hamilton Public Library

I absolutely loved this movie. I watched both the first and second but, this summer when I had the time I rewatched it with my friends and honestly I was not one bit disappointed and trust me neither will you because the movie is so cute. This is one of those movies that no matter how many times you rewatch this that you will never get bored. I loved the animation and the storyline. The characters were very well thought out and this movie is not only perfect for younger audiences but families and older kids as well. Even though I am a teenager and this movie is mostly intended for kids, I can still appreciate the good lessons throughout. I totally recommend this movie to people of all ages (kids may enjoy it more). I give this movie a 4.8 out of 5 stars.

L love rio l just love it

Rio... I didn't really like it too much. Yes it was funny. I loved the part when the disco ball came and Blu said "I had nothing to do with that." And then Jewel attacks him. I watched this movie in school when it came out in 2011. The class liked it, but i don't know if everyone loved it. I kind of like it, just kind of. Once it was on TV and they put it on so many times, it's getting really boring every year they put it on.

A pampered blue macaw (named uncreatively Blu) who has lived his life walking about with his human owner under the impression that he was the last macaw deals with culture shock when he is sent to Rio de Janeiro to mate with a feisty female macaw (named Jewel) in order to continue the species. However, on account of their rarity, Blu and Jewel are forced to fight capture from various animal smugglers who want to make a fortune off of them; all the while, Blu needs to learn to fly in order to make his great escape.

Hey, where are you going?
Blu?
Blu, What wrong?
Nothing.
Everything is perfect.
You be off to the rainforest.
I be back to Linda.
Just like we planned.
- I...
Hey birds! Stop yapping
and start flapping.
Let's go!
I guess I thought maybe...
- What, that you'll come to Minnesota?
Great, I guess I make you a scarf.
No, that's not what I meant.
