This is the first Alex McKnight(Steve Hamilton)book I have read(listened to)and I found it to be very entertaining and held my attention throughout. I actually listened to it on audio and enjoyed the reader-Dan Jon Miller--very much. He has good speaking-voice, with proper inflection in the words, as if he is, in fact, Alex McKnight which makes it all the more interesting. I appreciated the fact that Hamilton does not have to use the common expletives(curse words)as many authors seem to need to do. I have read that he was likened to Dick Francis--probably my favoritist author of all time, who also did not to have to rely on swearing and bedding down the damsel as in many other books--including which his own son Felix does since he has taken over writing from his much-missed father. Suffice it to say that this was my first Hamilton read but it will not be my last.

This one alternates chapters from current days to the days when Alex was a police officer. Another great mystery from Steve Hamilton!

I really like the Alex McKnight character. This is another great book of his adventures and sad return to his prior life in Detroit.
I agree very much with 'Duchess4'

The Houdini-esqe escape is way over the top.

A really good read. The Alex McNight series works well. The Lock Artist was a bit of a disappointment.

Good one. I think this is the best of the Alex McKnight series.
