BOOORRRINGG! Not nearly up to her usual standard, she could have ended this mystery half a dozen times in the last 100 pages. What a slog! Too many villains, not nearly enough plot. Maybe Diana Mott Davidson had a while she was writing it, not at all what I am used to from her.

Overall I enjoy the Goldy Schulz food and mystery series. This book was not one of her best, in my opinion. I don't recall reading anything about her so-called really good friend Holly before this book, certainly not as any kind of major character. Yet she shows up here as a best friend. The bulk of the book (number of pages) takes place over about a week or a bit more in time covered. Goldy is battered and injured several times yet she seems to bounce back like an energizer bunny. I know she's younger than me, but this seems not particularly believable. And then, at the very end, the lives of the characters in this book zoom forward several months (in the space of 5 or 6 pages). I am more interested in what happened in those several months than I was in most of the rest of the book.

A nice light cozy mystery filled with red herrings, comfortingly familiar characters, and lots of delicious sounding food. Don’t read this (or any of the books in the Goldy Schulz series) on an empty stomach!
