These books are so wonderful. Easy enough for beginning readers (1st-2nd grade) but delightful enough for even adults to enjoy, and perfectly written to be read aloud to younger children (3-6 years). They are joyful and celebrate family, culture, and tradition. But my favorite part is the natural multiculturalism of these stories set in an accessible, contemporary, non-stereotyped, suburban Africa. These stories give a realistic glimpse into the daily life of a contemporary, middle class, girl from a culture both similar and different from our American one. Highly recommended for all EC-4th educators.
