This book uses game programming as a means for teaching Python programming concepts. It is based on Python 3.1.1 for Windows, although early in Chapter 1 the author gives tips on obtaining and installing Python for other operating systems.

The online location of the Python source code and companion software mentioned in Appendix A - The Companion Website has been moved a few times since the 3rd edition was printed. As of 2018, you'll find it at Select "Programming, Networking, & Security" in the Companion Disciplines sidebar, then scroll down and select "Python Programming for the Absolute Beginner, 3e" to find the Downloads link.
