Deadpool is one of the best characters ever to blow something up in a graphic novel! Deadpool secret invasion, a product of marvel, the first volume of its series available to the Pickering Public Library, this graphic novel tells us part of the story of Wade Wilson, The merc with a mouth, or as he is best known, Deadpool. Deadpool is a dangerous gun-toting assassin... when he can pull himself together. As a result of the experiments preformed on him, Wade developed an "immunity" to death as well as a couple new voices in his head. As the title suggests, the story starts in a baseball game about to be invaded by the skrull, an alien species which exist in the marvel universe. Like many comic book aliens, the skrull intend to take over the earth. The story is in the point of view of everyone favourite anti-hero, our friend Deadpool and the voices in his head. This comic is both part of the comedic and action genres, which is reflected in the art style. The artist knew when to be dark and gritty, and when to add cartoonish panels to complement the writing perfectly. The book also has a history of the Deadpool comics at the end, which is helpful for new readers. All in all, this graphic novel leaves the reader wanting to follow Deadpool on more of his adventures. Good thing the series has (at least) 8 more volumes! So why not pick up this comic and enjoy the wise-cracking, explosion-loving, one-man-army that is Deadpool?
