Add a CommentHow does Patricia Barber, she of the long, long pauses, live with her own pretentiousness? She attempts to retro-fit the conservative dandy Porter for the era of political correctness, and no one survives. After a reasonably good "Easy to Love," it's downhill all the way, with Ms. Barber's "liberal" re-write of You're The Top standing out as particularly embarrassing. The original lyric "I'm the nominee of the GOP or gop" (to rhyme with top) has been self-righteously amended to "You're a Democrat." Ugh! The nadir arrives, however, with her literal-minded misreading of "Miss Otis Regrets" set to a ghastly death-metal guitar arrangement. SKIP!!!!!
Very well done. Good recording, excellent vocal.
