Otto Preminger directs this melodrama starring Dana Andrews, shortly after their masterpiece “Laura.” This is a story of a woman, Daisy Kenyon (Joan Crawford) trying to determine if she should drop her affair with Dana Andrews, a fairly rich married man, for a very much available, but a more ordinary soldier, Henry Fonda. This is an OK film. It seems that Preminger is playing with the shadows on the faces of his actors, perhaps symbolizing mixed feelings (or maybe he was just short of electricity or something). Or maybe Preminger was just bored with the ordinariness of the film and was doing this to remain amused.
