My daughter picked this out by choice when she was 10 years old. She loved it so much, she couldn't put it down, and then re-read it two more times. Nice clean story, nothing objectionable or sinister. Definitely five stars.

A lovely book...well written and paced....characters that you care about...I've grown tired of so many of the depressing, dark young adult books....this was nice. Will read more of Mr. Schmidt

This book was really good but people shouldn't classify it as a children's book because it has a lot of symbolism that is hard to pick up on. Even I had to look up what some of the symbols meant. (don't worry it's appropriate for all ages just hard to understand).

As a book, this was a 3 or 4. But as a children's book? I don't doubt that some kid somewhere at some time will pick up this book and love it, but I can't imagine any kid I know or have ever met to select this by choice.

Also, do kids really like Awesome Teacher books? You're better off reading Sahara Special or Bridge to Terabithia if that's what you're looking for.

This story is amazing, and all of the characters and circumstances were really interesting! The voice of Holling really helped bring everything out in the perfect way. I loved it!

I loved this book! It was really fun to read and I couldn't stop reading it until I found out what happened to Holling in the end. Really good story!
