Excuuuuuuse me? I can't believe the amount of people who take this piece of tripe seriously. But like Captain Oveur in "Airplane!", I TRULY appreciate gladiator pictures. Give me Kirk, Charlton, Steve Reeves...anyone with a clenched jaw and steely thighs peeking through a leather miniskirt, preferably swingin' a fishnet, and thrusting his trident. Unfortunately, the folks who rate this whopper highly seem to have CGI seriously confused with: a) reality, and; b) good film making. As a moderately entertaining entry into a benighted genre, it ain't bad. But worthy of serious consideration? Really, you like movies about gladiators? Joey, have you ever seen a grown man naked?

pretty bad. The battle scene at the beginning is great but it goes downhill after that-it's all so unlikely! Oh, it's hard not to like Joaquin Phoenix as Commodus and I don't blame Russel crowe for the bad scripts he "Master+Commander" = another bad one.

Greatly entertaining, great performance and fascinating story. I became an instant fan of Russell Crowe.
