Wonderful series on the ups and downs of country vets in rural pre- and post-war England. The acting is first rate and each character develops in his/her own natural way through the progression of life and all its circumstances. On top of it all, we get a bird's eye view of the intricacies of veterinary life amongst the sheep and the cows and the horses as well as the dogs and the cats and the idiosyncratic characters that abound in this Derbyshire village and surrounds. *****
