Encountering a mysterious beauty at a masquerade ball who then disappears at the stroke of midnight, Benedict Bridgerton vows to find her and encounters Sophie Beckett, a hauntingly familiar woman who is a servant and in need of his help, and as passion flares between them, he must choose between Sophie and searching for the elusive woman of his dreams from that magical night. Original.

Will she accept the offer before the clock strikes midnight?

Sophie Beckett never dreamed she'd be able to sneak into Lady Bridgerton's famed masquerade ball. Though the daughter of an earl, Sophie has been relegated to the role of servant by her disdainful stepmother. But now, waltzing in the strong arms of the debonair and devastatingly handsome Benedict Bridgerton, she feels like royalty. Alas, she knows all enchantments must end when the clock strikes midnight.

Who was that extraordinary woman? Ever since that magical night, a radiant vision in silver has blinded Benedict to the attractions of any other— except, perhaps, this alluring and oddly familiar beauty dressed in housemaid's garb. He has sworn to find and wed his mystery miss, but this breathtaking maid makes him weak with wanting her. If he offers her his heart, will he sacrifice his only chance for a fairy-tale love?

& Taylor

While searching for a mysterious beauty he met at a masquerade party, Benedict Bridgerton meets Sophie Beckett, a servant in need of his help, and as passion flares between them, he must choose between Sophie and the woman of his dreams.

An absolute delight from start to end. If you're looking for a great romance novel but you've shied away from, fear not--this is the one that hooked me on the genre.

The Bridgertons series is my absolute favorite historical romance series, period, and while this isn't my favorite installment in the series (I'm not sure that the world necessarily needed another Cinderella retelling), I think I appreciated it more upon a second reading. Once you get into the meat of the book, where Quinn departs from the traditional Cinderella tale, this is just as engaging as the other books in this series, full of lovable characters and witty banter and laugh-out-loud funny moments. I love these books so much.
