Shaun is a fairly boring man, who works a boring job, lives with his boring friend, and only ever wants to hangout at the pub. The only thing trying to force him to evolve and grow up is his girlfriend Liz. After his town is suddenly ravaged by zombies, it is time for Shaun to rise to the occasion and rescue his girlfriend (as well as his mother). This film was directed by Edgar Wright, and as a result had phenomenal shots and many scenes with exquisite attention to detail. The writing was tired at times, however, it was a very well produced film and had a very comedic take on normally horrific films. @The_Reviewer of the Teen Review Board of the Hamilton Public Library

An ordinary slacker bloke gets a major wake-up call as zombies invade the 'hood. Scary periods of zombie attacks alternate with humorous scenes of family and friends bickering over strategy and survival tactics as they fight their way toward the safety of the local pub.

I rather enjoyed this movie! Killing zombies would not be fun, I'm sure. Although, the characters did well with what they had. This movie was quite funny all through, and at some points, I actually wish I were there in the pub with them lol. I've watched this movie three times and I know I will watch it again a few more times. It really it quite humorous!

One of my biggest beefs behind my major disappointment of "Shaun of the Dead" was that, for more than half of the goddamn time, I could not - (I repeat) - I COULD NOT understand WTF!? anyone was saying. I'm not kidding!

Yeah. OK. I know damn-well that everyone was, indeed, speaking English (or, at least, I think they were), but with all of the bloody heavy-duty British accents, and the weird/alien slang, and the annoying way that everyone was always running all their goddamn words together - Well - As you can well-imagine, it was making me so ABSOLUTELY CRAZY!!

Believe me, there were many-many times when I know for sure that I had just missed out on getting the punchline of yet another killer-diller joke. But because my ears just weren't tuned into the incomprehensible way that everyone was speaking the English language - Well - I totally missed out on yet another belly-laugh.

And besides not being able to comprehend the unbelievably garbled lingo of these British boys and girls - I detested the final climax of this film, big time. It was such a blatant rip off from "Night of the Living Dead". It was. And all that I could do while it was happening was just yawn my head off until it was all over. It was really that dreary and dull to me.

Having seen all of the movies Edgar Wright has directed except A Fistful of Fingers, I like Shaun of the Dead best. Wright also directed Baby Driver, The World's End, Scott Pilgrim vs. the World and Hot Fuzz; they are all worth seeing. Shaun of the Dead is much more funny than scary, though I had forgotten that it and its zombies are a bit slow. The cast features familiar faces from the British TV show Spaced, which Wright also directed, as well as The Office (UK) and Black Books. The movie is rated R for zombie violence/gore and language.

SHAUN OF THE DEAD is a smart, funny homage to zombie movies while also maintaining its own identity instead of relying entirely on genre cliches.

The first part of a trilogy and the best one; and a wonderful parody for horror-lovers to see how Simon Pegg and Edgar Wright frantically play with the cliches of the genre.

This is a good movie with some genuine laughs in it- though I do think that some people over rate the movie at times. Worth watching though if you haven't seen it.

Unfunny zombie spoof. Predictable from the word "go".

Shaun: Look, I don't care what the telly says, all right? We *have* to get out of here. If we don't they'll tear us to pieces, and that is really going to exacerbate things for all of us.
