Add a CommentCautionary tales of humans who wed with otherworldly creatures abound and one thing remains sure: always keep your promises…or be careful about making them.
This story of a careless mortal is accompanied by haunting pictures of serene and terrible beauty. They are impressionistic illustrations, delicately outlining such intangible things as chill, breath, wind and icy cold. Death is always close by and yet it can come as gentle as fallen snow.
The tale of love found, lost and found again reveals that some mistakes can be learned from and don’t always result in terrible loss if humans are willing to pay the price. It’s a forbidding kind of folklore but no more so than any tale of broken oaths.
