Tearful follow up to The Unlikely Pilgrimage of Harold Fry. Although I would say more of a prequel. Either way, tomato/tomahto. Keep the tissues handy for this heartfelt epistolary tale.

"A light twists at the window and a shower of stars fills the air. They are may colors. Pink and yellow and blue and green. Oh, so much beauty. In one small thing." Queenie sees herself as small, but her story becomes so big. It feels…

Having thoroughly enjoyed The Unlikely Pilgrimage of Harold Fry, I had to read what Queenie needed to say to Harold before she died. Lovely, poignant book about making peace with regret at the end of life. Highly recommend. Kristi &…

Another in our reading project. We enjoyed this treatment of the other side of Harold Fry's pilgrimage as much as the original book. It is a nice complement to that story and fills in a lot of blanks. Joyce's attention to detail is…

Loved the Unlikely Pilgrimage of Harold Fry but found this follow up slow and plodding and couldn't make it past 100 pages. Maybe wrong timing to read this but I just couldn't connect or get interested.

Would definitely read the "companion" book first. The twists at the end of each got me! Beautifully read in the CD version!

I am very glad I listened to The Unlikely Pilgrimage of Harold Fry first, since that was an excellent book, well written, and the story line enticed you to keep listening to the audio. Had I read this Queenie Hennessy side of the story …

I felt the ending did not provide enough closure. However it was an interesting read about a life that was only partially lived because of misplaced good intentions.

With regret, although "The Unlikely Pilgrimage of Harold Fry" was one of my all-time favorites, I can only assign this one 3 stars. This troubles me, because Rachel Joyce's writing is beautiful, sensitive, insightful on so many levels. But…

I recently read The Unlikely Pilgrimage of Harold Fry and found it to be moving and thought-provoking. I was intrigued to find out this book existed, which tells the same story from the viewpoint of Queenie Hennessy. I thought this book…

If you have read The Unlikely Pilgrimage of Harold Fry, I do recommend you read The Love Song of Miss Queenie Hennessy. This is somewhat of a prequal, if you wish, of her first novel about Harold Fry. Set in a palliative care facility…

A lovely companion novel to "The Unlikely Pilgrimage of Harold Fry". I liked it every bit as much as the first story.

Written as a companion to her earlier book “The Unlikely Pilgrimage of Harold Fry”, Rachel Joyce takes us into the life of Queenie Hennessy the dying woman who was the reason for the pilgrimage. And what a beautiful, touching story it is.…

Not recommended. Not as good as The Unlikely Pilgrimage of Harold Fry (& that wasn't that great). If you're looking for a gentle, soothing read, this is not it; it is more like real life with its oddities, uncertainties & darker topics.…

From our 2015 #80DayRead Summer Reading Club traveler Patricia: Companion piece to The Unlikely Pilgrimage of Harold Fry. Lovely, if right on the edge of maudlin.

I really liked the idea of this book and it had the same gentle quiet storytelling style as Harold Fry's story. However I felt this novel lacked the direction and purpose of the first novel. In Harold's story, he is on a quest and is very…

This is such a beautiful story and I found the ending absolutely heartbreaking. I would recommend reading the first book, The Pilgrimage of Harold Fry, but I do think this story stands on its own as well. I would recommend it very highly.

Provides the other half of the Harold Fry pilgrimage by showing how life is for the hospice residents where Queenie's living, while they track (somewhat disinterestedly, understandably), his progress toward them. Queenie is a lovely…

For those who loved the Unlikely Pilgrimage of Harold Frey, I would highly recommend this book which is the companion novel, although it stands on it's own very nicely. This is just a beautiful gentle story and I loved it.
