Interesting as far as memoirs go, a very accurate look into the mind of someone who suffers with an eating disorder. I would not recommend this for any current or former ED patients as it is very explicit and detailed about her disordered…

I'm not finished the book yet but so far, it is extremely deep and I find, well told. You really get to see how this journey was for Portia and not the public's eye. I love it, it's an amazing book.

Harrowing story of the bleakness, pain and obsessiveness that is a full-blown eating disorder. I found some of her conclusions at the end, while they work for her, to be a little neatly packaged and trite.

It was a well written book. Gave me lots of insight as to the life she had to lead. It was moving because it was so raw with her emotions. Made me cry and think about my little girls.

Great book, didn't know any of thing from her life so it was interesting to read a story of a girl - teen - woman trying to find herself in the world and being contained in her own personal hell. I really liked this book, couldn't put it…

I liked that this story is a personal experience of a woman who struggled with an eating disorder because it lets you get inside the mind of someone with anorexia/ bulimia, so you can understand exactly why they do what they do. However, I…

Kudos to this brave woman for sharing her very personal life story.
In the last few pages she spoke directly to me as she wrote: "And dieting, I discovered, was another form of disordered eating, just as anorexia and bulimia similarly…

I really, really enjoyed this book. I'm sure any woman can relate at some point. A very honest look at selt-worth and how mean we can be to ourselves. I only wish she provided more info on her recovery.

What is different about this book is that it actually gets into the mind of the girl with the disorder. It explains the logic and thought processes for WHY those with eating disorders make the decisions they do, as irrational as their…

Very well written. I couldn't put it down. I'm sure a lot of women could relate to this; even if they haven't experienced an eating disorder, the topic of negative body image likely speaks to many. Portia De Rossi did a great job…

"Unbearable Lightness: A Story of Loss and Gain," presents the harrowing account of an internal drill sergeant, one who tortured and almost killed Portia de Rossi. In elegant, powerful prose, de Rossi discusses the impact of being raised…

This is such a powerfully told story. I never expected it to be as good as it was. Portia De Rossi tells a story that was so well hidden from the public it is astounding. Her emotion is raw, her message loud and clear. I recommend this to…

I have never seen Ally McBeal or Arrested Development, and I have no real sentiments for Portia before reading this book, so I hope my comment is a less biased one. It is not a bad biography about a secret life of eating disorder and…

A tremendously graphic yet oddly compelling look at how the actress Portia DeRossi was able to overcome her anorexia, chronic dieting and extreme exercising issues. I think anyone who's ever struggled with her body image would enjoy this…
