This book had a very authentic feel to it. I can't say I'm a big fan of comic books but this felt more like a horror novel than anything. I'm excited to read the rest of the series.

I initially thoughts this series was "just fine." However I am glad I stuck with it and read through the second volume. This volume lays the groundwork for what initially appears to be a straightforward story, but becomes an…

With a story by Stephen King and Scott Snyder, and art by Rafael Albuquerque, this first volume of the American Vampire series sets up the engaging tale of the anti-hero Skinner Sweet. Bloody as you would expect from a graphic novel about…

If the Great American Novel were a scary comic book, it would be this series featuring antihero Skinner Sweet. This introductory volume presents overlapping tales of the first vampires created on American soil, which confers new powers…

A young woman is brutally murdered by old world vampires in 1920's LA, only to rise as a newer and more vicious breed of blood sucker and seek her revenge. Good for historical fiction fans with a bit of a penchant for violence.

I hate to say it, but I was expecting so much more from this novel. Its collection of great authors prepared me for a great novel, but in the end I only felt let down. The plot is overused and while still somewhat interesting, had so much…

Looked Scott Snyder and found this series. WOW! Not the greatest graphics but seem to fit the story and what a story. Hope Snyder does like Anne Rice and tells his version of how his vampires came to be. Volume 2 waiting to be read.

I know this book was nominated and won multiple Eisner awards, but to me it was just another vampire story. I'd much rather read the old Wolfman/Colan Tomb of Dracula collections. American Vampire did have very good artwork to match the…

It wasn't bad of a graphic novel, however I found the plot and characters above average. The art is alright, and the details are lovely.

I loved this graphic novel. Excellent story and great art work. It was neat how the story jumped from the 1890's or early 1900's and the 1925 setting and used the writer as a bit of a narrator of the story. Only complaint is that the…

These vampires definitely do not sparkle.

It is a testament to the writing ability of Scott Snyder that his story in AMERICAN VAMPIRE is more compelling than one in the same volume written by the master of the macabre Stephen King. Thank goodness it’s not a competition. Mr. Snyder…
