Having never read Ender's Game, Ender's Shadow stands on it's own as a very enjoyable science fiction book, suitable for sci-fi readers of all ages. I will definitely read more from Orson Scott Card (starting with the classic Ender's Game,…

"Ender’s Shadow by Orson Scott Card is the story of Bean, the character from Ender’s Game. It begins with how Bean is homeless after escaping an illegal genetic engineering lab, with only his great intelligence left. Through his ideas, he…

An accompaniment to the acclaimed Ender’s Game, this novel follows the journey of Ender’s loyal sidekick, Bean. From the cruel streets of Rotterdam to the crushing pressure of an intergalactic war, Bean constantly contends with challenges…

I put off reading this book for a long time because the summaries suggest that it's the same story all over again (as Ender's Game) but from a different character's perspective. That's really only true for the last third of the book…

This book was pretty good. The twists that tied Bean and Ender's stories were amazing and satisfying, however, I was hoping to get a better and more positive view of the school after the amazing but rather negative Ender's Game but didn't…

Sorry, Ender. You're cool and all, but Bean is my new BFF. A quick read and a compelling story - can't wait to read volume 2!

After reading Ender's Game, I was skeptical that I was going to enjoy this book very much. I was definitely wrong. Not only does it follow Bean's unique story, but it is interesting and fast-paced as it follows a very distinct adventure…

Taking an immensely popular novel and rewriting it again only this time from another character's point of view isn't a good idea, right? The result would pale in comparison to the original or at worst be a complete disappointment and…

I greatly prefer Ender's Game to Ender's Shadow. While Bean was a very interesting character, there were a lot more introspective aspects to this book which made it seem more sluggish.
I actually liked Bean's story better than Ender's. The latter got too strange for me at either book 3 or 4, but I'm not going to give any spoilers. I suggest you read both series, but if you read this one first I'm sure you'll understand…

Utter Brilliance.I read this book after I read Ender's Shadow and although I do admit that after reading this, I already knew what was gonna happen, this book did a total 360. Having bean as the main character totally added another…

I really enjoyed this book, a shadow story of the original charachter, Ender, and the life of the children conscripted into military life as told by one of his classmates. A clever device by the author which really challenges his readers…
There are a few minor contradictions between the Ender's Game and Ender's Shadow novels in comparing the two. However, in my opinion it isn't nearly as good as Ender's Game. I found the side-story a little dull.
This is the real book 2. If you loved Ender's Game then you'll love Ender's Shadow. This is Ender's Game but from the perspective of Bean! Bean's story is just as exciting as Ender's!

rereading it once again. even though it is a rewrite of events that happened in ender's game from bean's perspective, it is just as thrilling. actually, after reading this, I like bean better than ender; bean less alone and aloof compared…

This parallel novel retells the events of Ender’s Game from the perspective of another character. Ender’s Game was a gripping thrillride, and Ender’s Shadow is too. But since it’s the same thrillride, it’s just not quite as good the second…
